Daal Baati Churma

Dal, or lentil curry, is made of two kind of lentils which are cooked along with the masalas to make a tasty dal or curry . Baati, a rounded of stuffed flour that’s baked in a charcoal fire or oven. Baati comes in many varieties as a substitute for rotis.

Dal fry with tadka

There are many ways to cook tadka dal or dal tadka but this is the one I use as it suits our palate. Tadka means tempering and I have used a standard Punjabi tadka with few variations. You can avoid adding tomato and can use lime juice instead.

Dal Makhani


Rajma refers to red kidney beans. These are available raw in Indian stores.Rajma will be served with Punjabi Phulka and dahi (curd) with one-half spanish onion and aachar (mixed hot pickle). The onion is meant to be eaten raw with the meal.This is simple, robust farm style food, rich tasty and you won’t impair your karma by eating the flesh of another sentient being.

Tandoori chicken

Chicken Tandoori is a highly popular dish consisting of roasted chicken, yogurt, and spices.The chicken is marinated in yogurt and seasoned with tandoori masala. It is moderately hot, but the heat is reduced in most Western nations. Cayenne pepper, red chili powder or kashmiri red chilli powder is used to give it a fiery red hue.
